Our client is a well-established HVAC manufacturer, supplying solutions to commercial construction projects across the UK. With a workforce of over 250 employees, they are recognised for both product quality and technical expertise. The business invests heavily in research and development, particularly in advanced capital equipment, and is supported by a highly skilled technical and estimating team.

As part of their continued growth, the company is now seeking a Field-Based Area Sales Manager to join the external sales team and cover the Midlands region. In this role, you will:

  • Develop and manage relationships across a wide range of commercial project types, including offices, healthcare, education, residential, hospitality, retail, and government buildings.
  • Ensure the company’s products (e.g. diffusers, dampers, grilles, control systems) are specified, approved, and ultimately installed on new projects.
  • Engage with key decision-makers throughout the route to market, including M&E consultants, main contractors, specialist subcontractors, design & build contractors, and specifiers.

This is a remote position, typically spending 3–4 days per week in the field and the remainder working from home. Project values range from £10,000 to £250,000+, with sales cycles typically spanning 6–18 months. In addition to managing regional enquiries and driving business development, you’ll also represent the company at conferences and exhibitions alongside the National Sales Manager and Sales Director.

Requirements

  • We are keen to hear from candidates from a wholesale or distribution background who are looking to move into technical sales.
  • Experienced specification-led sales engineers with knowledge of HVAC or related products and an understanding of the route to market, ideally gained with another manufacturer.
  • Field sales experience with a wholesaler, distributor, or manufacturer within the construction industry.
  • HVAC product knowledge is highly desirable, but we will also consider candidates from other technical field-based products or services such as lighting, facades, renewables, lifts & escalators, fire & security systems.
  • Strong understanding of the route to market, including engagement with M&E consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, or specifiers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Comfortable working autonomously, managing your own diary and territory.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.
