Spire Wellesley Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Bank Health & Safety Assistant to join our experienced team. This is a Bank role, working Ad hoc shifts.
Role Overview
The Health & Safety Assistant supports the delivery of a safe clinical and non-clinical environment by assisting with the implementation of the organisation’s Health & Safety policies and procedures. A key responsibility of the role is delivering Face Fit Testing and Manual Handling Training, ensuring that all staff—including clinical, support, and frontline personnel—are competent and compliant with healthcare safety standards. The postholder plays a crucial role in helping reduce workplace incidents, supporting infection prevention efforts, and promoting a positive safety culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver qualitative or quantitative Face Fit Testing for clinical and non-clinical staff in line with HSE and IPC requirements.
- Deliver Manual Handling Training tailored to healthcare needs, including safe patient handling, equipment use, and practical assessments.
- Provide H&S induction training for new staff.
- Deliver refresher training, toolbox talks, and departmental sessions.
- Maintain training materials in line with legislation and best practice.
- Support maintenance of the training matrix.
Who we're looking for
- Ability to organise, deliver or support Face Fit and Manual Handling Training.
- Understanding of healthcare-specific safety risks.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Good organisation and record keeping.
- Microsoft Office competence.
- Fit2Fit accreditation or willingness to train.
- Knowledge of CQC, NHS standards, and infection control.
- Experience with risk assessments or investigations.
- Experience in a healthcare environment.
