As a category manager, you'll look after the vision and strategy for your various categories in support of our business sales and profitability goals. You'll build great relationships with our suppliers and help shape decisions regarding the product mix, pricing, merchandising, promotions, and stocking quantities with an eye on the future, not just the here-and-now.
The Successful Category Manager will:
- Nurture productive relationships with important retail departments and various different stakeholders.
- Work in close collaboration with agencies and external suppliers.
- Look after the evolution of the overall business strategy. Plan for the future, not just the here and now.
- Support delivery of the agreed Targets & Resources plan (T&R), financials, and HSSE targets.
- Manage your own sales and margin goals and targets.
- Attain all recognised and relevant promotional timescales whilst delivering on your category plans.
The successful Category Manager will have:
- Experience in Buying as a Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager with first-hand experience and understanding of fast moving consumer goods marketing and excellent negotiation skills.
- An understanding of both Retail and E-commerce operations.
- The ability to collaborate and build lasting relationships with suppliers with a passion to always negotiate the best deals.
- A knowledgeable understanding of retail fundamentals of buying (Flooring, Floorcoverings, Laminates, Real Wood & Carpets), assorting, placement, merchandising, and retail operational processes.
- An analytical outlook with the ability to empathise with the customer. You'll be able to see the world through the eyes of the consumer.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time efficiently whilst maintaining focus on long term goals.
