Retail store assistant (with keyholder responsibility)
Hourly rate: £12.71 per hour + benefits.
Reports to: Shop manager.
Department: Trading.
Contract: Permanent.
Hours: 6 – Sundays only.
Location: Thirsk.

Role Overview
You will act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, taking responsibility for the shop on a Sunday, supporting a dedicated team of volunteers, and fostering a welcoming environment for customers and supporters.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the running of the shop on Sundays, including keyholder duties (training provided).
- Support a diverse volunteer team and assist the wider shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
- Review and process donated goods and new stock.
- Develop creative ideas to generate new income, in collaboration with the Shop Manager.
- Use customer service skills to ensure customers and supporters feel welcome and appreciated.
- Maintain shop standards regarding safeguarding, compliance and health and safety.
- Perform a varied amount of manual handling and physical activity as required.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of what makes great customer service.
- Experience in a lively and vibrant retail environment.
- Adaptability in changing situations and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to create relationships and communicate well.
- Flexibility to cover rota-based hours and accommodate a life outside work.
