Technology Business Analyst
£38,500 – £42,500 (+ Benefits)

Reports to: Lead Business Analyst
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week
Location: Stratford, London. Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

The Business Analysis team play an essential role in our mission by bridging the gap between our technology department and the wider organisation. The team maximises the value of all our technical resources by delivering operational transformation & management that enables us to be an inclusive, well-governed, agile, and sustainable organisation. This involves championing innovation, providing analytical insight, and driving technical change across a range of products and services used by 4,000+ staff, 600+ shops, and thousands of supporters who raised £735m towards our life‑saving research in 2024/25.
What will I be doing?
- Delivering large/ complex projects within one of our product portfolios to develop innovative and flexible business solutions, whilst driving efficiencies and harnessing shared capabilities.
- Driving analysis on multiple projects/ products to identify and assess solutions that meet business outcomes and provide the best cost/benefit balance.
- Scoping and shaping analytical approaches to problem-solving.
- Forging strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to identify and assess opportunities to meet business needs.
- Analysing and mapping core business processes and systems, identifying pain points, and leading process improvements.
- Collating, understanding, and documenting business, functional, and non‑functional requirements ensuring stakeholders have a shared understanding.
- Translating business requirements into Agile epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Sizing and prioritizing product features to maximize value for Cancer Research UK.
- Collaborating with Solution Architects, Developers, Testers, and UX Designers.
- Inputting into the design of test scenarios, scripts, and execution by collaborating with customers and Quality Assurance to ensure changes are appropriately tested and accepted.
- Defining KPIs/ SLAs with the business to monitor the effectiveness of processes and enable greater efficiency.
- Assisting in developing investment appraisals and providing decision support to ensure solutions deliver maximum value to the charity.
- Assisting in the identification, baselining, and tracking of project benefits to ensure value is achieved.
- Supporting the business analyst community by sharing expertise and best practices and contributing to analysis toolkits.
- Maintaining an understanding of the capabilities, processes, and services that make up Cancer Research UK\’s technology landscape.
- Keeping aware of current and emerging software to ensure that compatible solutions are designed, and existing capabilities are re‑used where suitable.
- Supporting colleagues across the business analyst community while contributing to the team\’s development by providing and creating material, guidelines, and user guides.
What skills will I need?
- Experienced Business Analyst who has successfully delivered technical change and projects in medium to large businesses with a large IT function or within a large technology agency/consultancy.
- Strong understanding and experience in business analysis skills, techniques, and practices.
- Advanced skills in requirements gathering and process improvements.
- History of designing and facilitating workshops.
- Proven ability to influence decision‑making at all levels within a variety of contexts.
- Understanding of what Cancer Research UK is trying to achieve and the impact that the Delivery team makes in contributing to those objectives.
