At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.
We are looking for a Senior Performance Manager to join our Data, Insight and Performance team.
The Data, Insights and Performance team collaborate across the Marketing, Fundraising & Events (MFE) directorate to provide expert data analytics and insight that supports decision-making across Cancer Research UK’s 30+ marketing and fundraising products (e.g. Race 4 Life, Weekly Lottery, Legacy Giving, Regular Giving etc). We are seeking to bring in a Senior Performance manager to focus solely on our Engage Transformation Project (ETP) to join a team of 7 Performance Managers within the bigger group of mixed discipline data and insight professionals.
Cancer Research UK has a vision to bring about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. However, to achieve our mission and grow our funding, we must build even greater momentum and urgency around our cause, and engage and inspire millions of people in deeper, more meaningful ways to join our mission. Therefore, we have created a long-term Engage Strategy and designed a bold transformation programme to better harness data and digital marketing technology to deliver more relevant, trusted, and frictionless experiences for our audiences (and in turn drive contribution growth).
As a Senior Performance Manager, you will drive the effective evaluation and reporting of ETP benefits, ensuring benefit performance, forecasts, risks and issues to guide the effective management of the programme. ETP is the largest transformation programme within the charity sector and this role will have a direct impact on how we move forward by allowing us to measure and monitor its success.
Whether your background is in finance, PMO, or marketing effectiveness, we\’re looking for individuals who bring deep expertise in performance management and a collaborative mindset. You\’ll leverage the strengths and experience of our team to drive a robust, unified and strategic approach to measuring ETP.
-
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders (ETP Programme Director, Head of Business Transformation, Benefit Owners, Finance, and others) to evaluate benefit performance against the delivery plan. Lead quarterly reviews to assess progress, identify risks and issues, and ensure that mitigating actions are aligned, monitored, and reported through programme governance.
-
Embed the high-level benefits approach and establish robust project/lever-level reporting to ensure benefits are tracked effectively and inform governance decisions. Act as a critical friend in estimating the value of mitigations, ensuring that prioritisation is based on sound assumptions.
-
Lead benefit re-forecasting in response to programme changes and drive alignment across stakeholders. Coordinate with Finance to ensure consistency between the ETP benefits plan and CRUK’s financial planning cycles (e.g. annual budgets, Q2F, Long Term Model). Refresh benefit assumptions annually as part of the planning cycle.
-
Work closely with the Data, Insight and Performance team and the Performance Management community to ensure a consistent, robust and independent view of benefit performance, leveraging their expertise to enhance analysis, reporting and decision-making.
-
Actively contributing to the centralised performance hub to embed consistent standards, tools and processes that enable confident use of performance insights and to build performance capability across teams by identifying data literacy needs and providing targeted support.
What are you looking for?
-
Significant experience of financial and marketing performance measurement and evaluation
-
Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to connect performance back to strategy
-
Proven track record of advising and enabling data driven decisions to drive improvements in organisational performance in line with strategic goals.
-
A confident and effective communicator with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of an organisation, including in difficult situations
-
Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
-
A natural self-starter with the ability to act with high autonomy and a flexible mindset to adapt to changing priorities
-
Advanced knowledge of Excel (large data sets, pivot tables and charts)
-
Knowledge and experience with PowerBI would be advantageous
Our organisation values are designed to guide all that we do.
