Retail Assistant Manager (Superstore)

£25,314 – £29,555 plus benefits

Department: Trading

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Location: Salford Superstore

About Us: Cancer Research UK exists to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, but we need to go further and faster. We are looking for a talented, motivated Superstore Assistant Manager to join our trading team. You’ll support the Superstore Manager and team to maximize sales and fundraising, representing Cancer Research UK in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Superstore Manager in leading, inspiring, and engaging a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment, retention, and development.
  • Oversee the commercial operations of the superstore, including display, merchandising, stock management, maintaining shop standards, and sales.
  • Work with the manager to meet targets for donated stock, cash, gift aid, sales, and stock processing.
  • Assist with systems managing donations and distribution across shops, superstores, and eCommerce.
  • Lead by example in delivering excellent customer and supporter service.
  • Build relationships with the local community and colleagues to generate engagement, income, and stock.
  • Support the organization and delivery of fundraising events to meet targets.
  • Deputize for the Store Manager when needed.
  • Manual handling and physical activity are part of the role.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Commercial awareness with success in sales and profit targets.
  • Experience managing and inspiring a large, diverse team.
  • Ability to work within targets and motivate others.
  • Multi-tasking skills in a busy retail environment with large stock volumes.
  • Creativity and proactive in seeking new opportunities.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis to meet store needs.
