Reports to: Senior Communications and Marketing Manager

Directorate: Research and Innovation

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We’re looking for an engaging and detail-oriented Research Communications & Marketing Executive to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about our mission and the impact of our work. You’ll be a confident communicator, proactive in your approach, and experienced in using a range of digital communication channels to engage diverse audiences.

In this role, you’ll help bring our research to life, creating and delivering compelling content across multiple platforms, including our website, email campaigns, newsletters, social media, and conferences.

In return, we offer the chance to further develop your skills in content creation, campaign delivery, and channel management, while gaining unique exposure to a wide range of researchers and cutting-edge science across CRUK’s research portfolio.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the team in crafting and delivering communication and marketing activities to engage with and influence academic and industry research audiences.
  • Creating high-quality, scientifically accurate, engaging content (including copywriting, copyediting, proofreading, etc.) and visual assets, in line with Cancer Research UK’s brand and tone of voice for a research audience.
  • Creating and managing the distribution of our email and e-newsletter marketing campaigns.
  • Managing communications channels with a specific attention to our newsletters, social media channels and website.
  • Analysing and reporting on communications and marketing activities, producing monthly dashboards and ad hoc analyses.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong communication skills (written and visual) and able to communicate in an engaging way. Experience in short form content creation/promotion would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent management, organisation and planning skills, with strong sense of accountability.
  • Experience in using digital channels and running campaigns (doesn’t need to be professional) – with an interest in B2B social media.
  • Analytical with experience producing reports and dashboards.
  • Demonstrates initiative and attention to detail; self-motivated and solutions focused.
  • A passion for Cancer Research UK’s cause, with a strong interest or background in life sciences, academia or the biotech/pharma Industry.
