At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That’s why we’re looking for someone talented, someone determined, someone like you.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing and delivering long-term strategic partnerships that bring external organisations closer to Cancer Research UK’s mission. Working closely with the Partnerships and Philanthropy teams, you’ll help to create and grow high-value corporate and wider partnerships that deliver meaningful impact beyond income generation. You will focus on translating complex Policy, Information & Communications (PIC) activity into compelling and inspiring partnership opportunities, enabling fundraisers and potential partners to connect with CRUK’s work in innovative ways.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Have a clear overview of the activity and strategic priorities in Policy, Information & Communications (PIC) and identify appropriate PIC opportunities for Partnerships and major donors.
  • Act as a consultant, working collaboratively with relevant colleagues across teams to identify and build PIC funding and/or strategic opportunities for both existing and new partnerships.
  • Work in conjunction with the PIC directors and heads, and relevant Partnerships teams to facilitate the identification of strategic partnership and funding opportunities within PIC.
  • Provide oversight to delivery of key health partnerships including if required providing targeted partnerships delivery management.
  • Provide functional management of the health partnerships manager.
  • Build excellent senior relationships externally, both with partners and other charities, providing direction and managing escalations for delivery of health partnerships; this may include stewardship of key senior external stakeholders for a small number of partners.
  • Use effective communication skills and subject expertise to shape and deliver pitches with partners bringing our PIC work to life.
  • Accountable for robust tracking, measurement and impact reporting of core purpose PIC partnerships, reporting back to the business.

Skills Required:

  • An excellent relationship manager with the capacity to build strong networks and drive collaborative ways of working within a complex organisation.
  • Experience in delivering mutually beneficial partnerships with tangible successes.
  • A strong communicator with ability to inspire and engage a range of stakeholders with ideas and information.
  • Comfortable operating at a senior level and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance risks and opportunities and advise peers and senior stakeholders appropriately in decision making.
  • Able to think creatively and produce engaging content in order to develop new ideas and obtain buy-in from a range of stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of influencing multiple stakeholders and communicating effectively and engagingly both internally and externally.
  • Sound understanding of the area of corporate partnerships and the needs of fundraising.

What Will I Gain?

Our benefits package includes discounts on anything from travel to technology, generous holiday allowance, gym membership, and much more. We want to ensure that you have the best work/life balance possible, so we actively encourage a flexible working culture for all of our roles wherever possible. Depending on your role, options for flexibility could include homeworking, reduced or flexi-hours, job shares, job splits, and core hours. For the majority of our office-based roles you’ll only be required to work from a specific location for 1 or 2 days a week on average.
