Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Location: Home Based/Field Based covering Aberdeen, Inverness, Kirkwall, Dundee, Perth and Outer Hebrides. Candidates must live within the above listed areas to be considered.

We are looking for an ambitious, driven people person, passionate about raising vital funds to support Cancer Research UK. As a Relationship Manager you will inspire and motivate a wide range of supporters, including individuals, groups and corporate partners, to develop strong relationships, maximising in-year fundraising opportunities and long-term value.

We seek candidates from a business development or fundraising background, with excellent relationship building skills, confidence in negotiating and influencing a diverse range of supporters. You will manage multiple priorities and adapt in an environment where no two days are the same. In this home-based role you will travel across the area to maximise community engagement and will sometimes work out of hours for supporter meetings and events, with time off in lieu compensation.

What will I be doing?

  • Inspire, develop and manage supporters to achieve their goals through outstanding and tailored stewardship.
  • Develop a prospect pipeline of opportunities, identify and cultivate leads, and acquire new supporters and income in collaboration with the Business Development team.
  • Hit fundraising targets and KPIs for CRUK's life-saving research.
  • Support creation and delivery of relevant strategies that build better and longer-lasting relationships to increase long-term income.
  • Build strong working relationships with wider department colleagues to effectively develop transitional supporters.

  • Experience working as part of a high-performing team, achieving KPIs and targets.
  • Experience working unsupervised and the ability to drive and generate own workload.
  • Excellent networking and relationship management skills – the ability to motivate and influence supporters or customers to reach targets.
  • Ability to adapt style and approach, generate new ideas and acquire new business.
  • A strong solution-focused approach to enable supporters to overcome challenges and maximise their fundraising.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (face-to-face, written and phone).
  • Great time-management, prioritisation and planning skills.

Eligibility criteria for internal candidates

  • Internal candidates should ideally have completed their 6-month ‘getting started’ period before applying for other roles.
  • They should also advise their current line manager at the point of application or at the latest when invited for an interview.
  • All internal candidates applying for a secondment must:
    • Completed their getting started period.
    • Discussed their intention to apply and gained approval from their line manager.
    • Been in their substantive (home) role for at least 6 months (if previously on secondment).
