Retail Store Manager – £27,336‑£32,067 per annum plus benefits. Permanent, full time 37.5 hours per week. Reports to: Area manager. Department: Trading. Location: Alnwick, Narrowgate. Closing date: 5th July 2026.
Responsibilities
- Guide, inspire and engage a team of paid staff and volunteers, including recruitment, retention and development.
- Take ownership of the commercial running of the store, including display and merchandising, stock management, maintaining shop standards and store layout.
- Lead by example to provide excellent customer and supporter service.
- Maximise profit through effective cost control and sales.
- Create relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
- Organise and run creative fundraising events to achieve fundraising targets.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration and HR policies.
- Perform manual handling and other physical activities required in day‑to‑day duties.
Qualifications
- Experience managing and inspiring a diverse team.
- Comfort working within targets and motivating others to achieve them.
- Capacity to multi‑task in a lively environment.
- Working knowledge of outstanding customer service.
- Commercial awareness and knowledge of high street fashion retail.
- Adaptability to changing situations and ability to work independently.
- A strong awareness of the price, value and worth of items.
- Flexibility to cover the business needs on a rota basis while maintaining a work‑life balance.
