The Business Development Associate is responsible for finding, assessing, managing and helping to commercialise new research reagents developed by scientists from around the world. The goal being to build and develop a unique repository while increasing scientific reach and impact of these valuable reagents, thereby accelerating patient benefit.
Key duties include:

Building relationships with universities, research organisations and external stakeholders.

Maintaining a portfolio of accounts, ensuring personal and team targets are met and bringing new accounts into the portfolio.

Onboarding research reagents for onward distribution and, as appropriate, commercialisation.

Educated to degree level in a relevant life science discipline.

Experience in account management, business development, or sales

Practical and/or commercial knowledge of the application of research tools such as hybridoma cell lines, antibodies, transgenic mice, plasmids, cell lines and small molecules as tool compounds in academic and commercial research environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills with experience of networking and attendance at scientific conferences.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities to deadlines.

Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Negotiation skills with experience of licensing in third-party technologies and revenue sharing agreements would be beneficial but isn’t essential.

Background in a life science reagents or biotech/pharma (or similar organisation) role, or experience of commercial life science licensing in a technology transfer role would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
*Please note that there is an element of travel, both national and international, involved in this role. Circa once or twice per quarter for 3 to 4 days.
