Hours: Sessional hours as required
Location: Various locations across Northern Ireland (Seeking additional cover in Northern Trust & South Eastern Trust localities)

Remuneration: £17.68 per hour
Overall Purpose of Post
The Sessional Health Promotion Nurse will work as part of the Cancer Focus NI Health Improvement and Community Wellbeing team, carrying out individual health assessments and delivering health information and awareness sessions to promote key messages on cancer prevention and health and wellbeing.
This work will be delivered across a range of settings via the Keeping Well mobile health service, reaching community groups, corporate partners, and a wide range of beneficiaries such as mens groups, womens groups and sports clubs.
Key Responsibilities
Service delivery and Information Management
- Provide health assessments (e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose and CO2 checks) at various locations as agreed with the Community Wellbeing Manager.
- Offer support, advice, and relevant health education literature during assessments, with an emphasis on cancer awareness.
- Promote broader health improvement messages were appropriate such as stop smoking support and skin cancer awareness.
- Liaise with the Community Wellbeing Manager regarding the retention and collation of statistical information, including service evaluation and monitoring.
Governance and Quality Assurance
- Work within the guidelines of the Nursing Midwifery Councils (NMS) Code of Professional Conduct and maintain ongoing professional development, including clinical, social and psychological aspects, in accordance with NMC Post-Registration and Practice (PREP) standards.
- Record necessary assessment data while ensuring strict adherence to data protection policies, with all data stored confidentially in line with GDPR best practices.
- Adhere to Cancer Focus NI policies and procedures, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and materials are safely disposed of after use, in full compliance with hygiene protocols at all times.
General
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support service users, individuals living with cancer, and their families.
- Represent and promote Cancer Focus Northern Ireland and its objectives as required.
- To promote existing Cancer Focus NI services where appropriate.
- To carry out any other duties that may be required by Cancer Focus NI.

Experience
- A minimum of one years experience of delivering health promotion in a community setting within the last five years.
- Experience and knowledge of cancer nursing.
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding and knowledge of audit processes and service evaluation.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse on the live NMC register, Part 1: Level 1.
Skills
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to deliver both one-to-one and group sessions.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in recording and interpreting patient data, with the ability to make informed recommendations to improve health outcomes.
- Evidence of training in communication skills or counselling.
- Excellent time keeping and self-organisation skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, e-mail and internet.
