Reports to:Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator Hours: 17.5 hours per week (Contracted hours will initially be worked flexibly across the week in line with operational and organisational requirements) Location:Cancer Focus NI Therapeutic Cancer Support Centre, 18 High Street, Enniskillen Campaign Service/Cause: Community Services Remuneration:£29,604 - £31,872 (pro-rata) Overall Purpose of Post The Palliative Transport Service (PTS) is a well-established charity providing patient transport support within in the Greater Fermanagh area. Following a successful partnership between PTS and Cancer Focus NI, both organisations have agreed that Cancer Focus NI will assume operational responsibility of the patient transport service, therefore ensuring long term sustainability. The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Volunteer Driving Service, which will provide transport support to those diagnosed with cancer within the greater Fermanagh area. The Volunteer Driving Service Officer will play a key role in the success of the service, support its development and also the day-to-day coordination of volunteer drivers. You will be instrumental in training, developing, promoting and supporting volunteering across the service. The postholder will be a key member of the Cancer Focus NI Therapeutic Support Centre based in Enniskillen, contributing to its daily functioning whilst also promoting volunteering opportunities within the Cancer Focus NI driving service and good practice in volunteer management. Key Responsibilities Service Coordination Volunteer Driving Service officer will have responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and facilitation of the volunteer driving service To provide friendly and professional experience for patient bookings and enquiries To work with the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to identify and meet the needs of volunteers across the Greater Fermanagh locality To foster and maintain friendly, professional and supportive working relationships with our volunteers and stakeholders To maintain the volunteer driving service database and an inventory of volunteer needs To manage drivers availability and specifications, as well as the patients needs To keep accurate records of service provision within our digital case management system To ensure volunteers have the opportunity to engage in other Cancer Focus NI services were appropriate Provide regular reports to line management. Service Development To support the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator with the development and implementation of a comprehensive volunteer recruitment programme to meet the needs of the volunteer driving service To establish and maintain referral pathways into the service for patients via identified health professionals To liaise and work with the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator and the Communications Team to increase the visibility of the service through social media outlets and capturing relevant case studies To support the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to identify and develop new volunteer initiatives within the volunteer driving service To represent the service and promote its work both locally and to the wider community To liaise, develop and maintain links with other agencies in the voluntary, private and public sectors in order to raise awareness of the volunteer driving service and promote volunteering opportunities. Volunteer Management To work with the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to ensure the needs of our current volunteer base is met To work with Cancer Focus NI volunteers to create and implement a holistic volunteer development strategy To work with the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to plan and implement training when needed, incorporating appropriate resources To induct new volunteers in line with Cancer Focus NIs policies and procedures To provide ongoing effective support and guidance to Cancer Focus NIs volunteers To continually update volunteer records and liaise with Cancer Focus NIs central Volunteer Engagement Officer. Service Evaluation & Quality Assurance To support the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to quality assure and maintain service standards and make recommendations to improve the quality of service provision To ensure Adult Safeguarding procedures are in place and reporting structures are established To support the Volunteer Driving Service Coordinator to review current evaluation tools to accurately assess the volunteer & patient experience To ensure that the volunteers & patient voice is adequately heard and reflected in service provision To support collection of case studies to ensure service users views help to inform future service provision and influence wider strategic objectives To ensure volunteers are adequately supported and the service complies with good practice in terms of Access NI checks, training and volunteer development To maintain accurate records in line with governance requirements. i.e. Insurance documentation, MOT certificates, medical records etc. General To assist the wider volunteer driving service team when required Attend and contribute to team meetings and cross departmental meetings were appropriate To assist in the daily functioning of the Cancer Focus NI Enniskillen Support Centre as required To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required.
