- JOB SUMMARY
To work in an established team, maintaining the green and open spaces at Canary Wharf to a high standard
Work Shift: Monday to Friday, between 07:30am to 17:30pm (Summer Hours) & 07:30am to 15:30pm (Winter Hours)
- MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To work in a team maintaining turf, bedding plant displays, hedges, shrubs, trees, grass cutting, weeding, pest and disease control, plants in atrium and office areas.
- To assist in all landscape schemes requiring ground preparation, planting and turfing, bulb planting and any other usual tasks which falls within the upkeep of open spaces.
- Have knowledge of pests and diseases and how to control them.
- To have experience of controls and monitoring automatic irrigation systems.
- To carry out tree and aerial hedge pruning and have a knowledge of tree pests and diseases.
- To observe and implement health and safety procedures in particular relation to the use of pesticides.
- To perform litter picking duties in all landscape areas, as directed by the Landscape Manager.
- To work within a team and also be capable of working on his/her own initiative with minimal supervision.
- To assist other departments in emergencies and if workload is low due to weather conditions or winter seasons.
- Develop and maintain appropriate and effective communication with other team members & Landscape Supervisor.
- Adherence to Method Statements & Risk Assessments.
- Take good care of all plant, vehicles and equipment that you use and report faults in accordance with Company Procedures.
- Demonstrate an active commitment to self-development.
- Must be competent with mobile phone technology as tasks are delivered via a smart phone.
- The team operate a winter and summer hours rota, shorter hour sin the winter and longer hours in the summer.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Minimum of 3 years' experience
- Applicant must hold a valid UK drivers licence
- The applicant must have th ability to work on their own and unsupervised.
- City & Guilds or Nat Certificate in Horticulture is desirable
- The applicant must have an appreciation of the importance of excellent customer service
