Canary Wharf Group is looking for a motivated and tenacious self-starter to join their Group Treasury function in this broad ranged Senior Treasury Operations & Systems Manager role. The ideal candidate will thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment, have an outstanding work ethic and have the ability to lead on projects as well as overseeing three team members. This position will lead the Group Treasury Transformation initiative:

  • a best-in-class liquidity solution,
  • Exposure and Covenant Reporting,
  • Treasury Management System management and implementation of any process improvements,
  • Bank Account Rationalisation, and
  • Debt and Hedge reporting.

Salary £85-95k. 4 days office / 1 WFH.

Main Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Own, develop and implement a highly effective Group treasury strategy that aligns with the company's financial and operational goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of treasury professionals, providing guidance, support and fostering their professional development.
  • Team Leadership: Ensure that the team executes their tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Team Leadership: Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders providing updates on liquidity status, risk exposures, and compliance matters.
  • Team Leadership: Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of treasury operations.
  • Team Leadership: Monitor treasury KPIs and provide regular reports to the Deputy Treasurer and Managing Director of Treasury.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Lead cash management transformation initiatives across the group, including implementation of cash pooling structures, virtual accounts, and treasury legal entity optimisation.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Implement and maintain cash pooling arrangements to optimise group liquidity.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions through the treasury management system, ensuring accurate capture and reporting of all cross-entity cash flows.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Oversee treasury-related projects including virtual account implementation, payments setup, and bank relationship optimisation.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Monitor and manage group's short-term liquidity, ensuring it meets the current and future financial obligations.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Develop strategies to optimise cashflow and minimise liquidity risks.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Management of surplus liquidity including mitigating interest expense by paying down revolving debt, or investment of excess cash in approved investment vehicles.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Preparation of cash forecasts, for decisions regarding cash management, as well as monitoring forecasting models to track short-term project funding requirements.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Take a business partnering approach, ensuring constant communication with key business teams to understand upcoming short term cash requirements and longer-term liquidity.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Work with the Group Deputy Treasurer to implement KRIs and KPIs for the function, measurement tools, reporting and action plans.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Input into quarterly shareholders reporting.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Working with the tax team to establish cash pooling agreements and appropriate terms for UK Transfer Pricing as well as quarterly update of arm's length interest rates.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Sense-check interest and SWAP calculations and challenge banks where differences are identified.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Ensure procedures and controls are in place for all Liquidity and Risk team processes.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Grow relationships with key external stakeholders including Chatham Financial.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Ensure all cash is swept from accounts in line with all facilities.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Allocate cash in the correct free vs blocked in line with all facilities post IPD process.
  • Cash Management & Risk Management: Review banking fees, transaction costs, and other finance-related charges to ensure accuracy and cost efficiency.
  • Treasury Operations: Sense-check interest and SWAP calculations and challenge banks where differences are identified.
  • Treasury Operations: Lead Opening/Closing of bank accounts.
  • Treasury Operations: Lead Bank Mandate update ensuring Signature lists are up to date.
  • Treasury Operations: Manage preparation of letters for quarterly interest payments within required deadlines.
  • Treasury Operations: Monitor daily ops reports to ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls.
  • Treasury Operations: Ensure relevant documents and setup is complete for external and internal counterparties ahead of trade execution.
  • Treasury Operations: Ensure timely trade capture in internal system, process lifecycle events (rate resets, accounts setup, etc.) and resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Treasury Operations: Establish and document "Best practice" procedures and ensure operations analysts are in compliance with all established policies and procedures.
  • Treasury Operations: Work with internal and external parties to ensure problems/issues are identified and actioned in a timely manner.
  • Treasury Operations: Implement various report changes initiatives in terms of processing procedures.
  • Systems & Controls: Undertake and Lead Operations' Team ongoing projects from Start to implementation.
  • Systems & Controls: Assist in management of all Treasury systems and banking platforms.
  • Systems & Controls: Implementation of new cash management bank including all systems and manage team to rationalise historic structure.
  • Systems & Controls: Responsible (with team) for all Group Treasury and banking related systems including banking platforms.
  • Systems & Controls: Assist with implementation of Treasury related systems.
  • Systems & Controls: Strengthen the control environment and drive change through continuous process improvements and re-engineering cash management processes.
  • Systems & Controls: Dealing with trouble-shooting requests linked online banking platforms and any future treasury systems to ensure a smooth payments process; responsible for ensuring all payments are processed successfully and following up with communications when there are errors, resolving issue and completing postmortem on how to avoid payment error in the future.
  • Project Management: Lead and oversee strategic treasury initiatives, including system implementations, bank connectivity enhancements, and process automation projects.
  • Project Management: Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria in alignment with broader finance and corporate goals.
  • Project Management: Manage cross-functional stakeholder engagement across Finance, IT, Legal, Tax, and external partners to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk assessments, and governance frameworks.

  • Others: Act as a resource to answer basic inquiries regarding the various lines of business supported by the operations team and be a subject matter expert on Ops projects to support successful implementations.

Person Specification

  • 7-15 years of progressive treasury experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • Proficiency in treasury management systems.
  • Excellent leadership skills with proven track record of managing complex treasury operations.
  • Analytical and logical approach to solving problems and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Good Excel experience is essential.
  • Microsoft Office product skills essential.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISDA template transactions level documents.
