We are looking for volunteers to join our existing team to help us complete regular reservoir inspections. There will be a shadowing and training period, where you will be paired with volunteers or colleagues already carrying out inspections, before being able to do so independently.
Harthill requires inspections 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Pebley requires 2 days. We are seeking volunteers available on one of these days per week, able to spare around 4 hours for the inspection.
Activities include:
- Monitoring the integrity of the dam, crest, and toe of embankments
- Identifying changes to the condition of structures, including wave and other damage to riprap bank protection
- Identifying new leaks
- Monitoring the state of vegetation
- Identifying evidence of Blue Green Algae
- Checking the serviceability of culverts and inlet/outlets
- Monitoring the water level in the reservoir
- Reporting via a smartphone app
