The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
We are looking for conscientious individuals with a keen eye for detail and an interest in public safety to assist with regular risk assessments of our customer-operated structures, which include swing bridges, lift bridges, and locks.
The role involves visiting sites across the Yorkshire region to assess the condition of the structures from a visitor’s perspective and update our documentation. Some assessments will be first-time assessments with no previous records, while others will be re-assessment visits to identify any significant changes since the last visit. We have opportunities across the region, so if you are happy to travel, that’s great; otherwise, we can tailor the opportunity to be closer to home for the right candidates.
Each site visit will typically require up to half a day, with an additional half day for write-up time following the visit. Full training will be provided.

These skills may include working alongside existing specialists within the Trust or bringing skills that we currently lack. We have a variety of skilled activities you could participate in.
What you will be doing
- Supporting reservoir inspections
- Towpath surveys
- Specialist heritage or environmental surveys and assessments
- Supporting major construction works or stoppages
- Carrying out CAATS (internal qualifications) assessments
- Performing Visitor Risk Assessments
- Maintaining specific equipment at our museums and attractions
- Conducting safety and service inspections
