A leader required for this group, to manage and co-ordinate a team of about 20 volunteers who meet once a month to look after the stretch of the Grand Union Canal from the canal basin to Bridge 13.
This group is a volunteer group set up by the Logan and Town Centre Neigbourhood Forum in July 2024. The group has formally ‘adopted’ this stretch of the canal, so we are recognised by the Canal & River Trust, who support us in many ways.
The current leader of the group is moving away from the area, so we are looking for a replacement to take over as soon as possible.
What the role involves
•
Setting dates for volunteer sessions (usually a 2 hour session, once a moth), and ensuring all members of the group are informed
•
Promoting the dates locally, so that new members may be encouraged to join
•
Ensuring all kit and equipment is available at the start of each session, and returned at the end
•
Being responsible for Health and Safety briefings
•
Liaising with C&RT
Training and support will be provided by Logan and Town Centre Neighbourhood Forum, and the Canal and River Trust. The role is open to anyone living in the area, you do not need to be a member of either group.
