Community Bug Hotel Building!
Join us for a fun, hands-on session building cosy homes for insects and helping local wildlife thrive! Feel free to bring the kids or grandkids along with you for this one! Ages 5+

Location: Brent Reservoir (Welsh Harp)
Meet at The Relaxing Area, Capital Ring, London NW9 7AB. We will then walk to the building site.

Date: July 29
Time: 1:30pm start

What we’ll do:

  • Learn why bug hotels are important for nature
  • Help to build a bug hotel from natural and recycled materials
  • Discover which insects might move in!
  • Have a chat and enjoy the fresh air

All ages welcome! No experience needed — just come ready to get creative and maybe a bit dirty.
Come along and help give local bugs a five-star home!

Parents or guardians must accompany their children during the session. Booking is essential. If you can\’t make it, kindly cancel your ticket.

The Drop-in Role is about getting a taste of volunteering at the Trust, joining us at your leisure to participate in our Welcome Sessions, Let’s volunteering opportunities, or if you’re joining us for the first time, this is a great chance to get involved.

We offer a variety of accessible volunteer opportunities that make a big impact on your local canal, with minimal commitment.

What you will be doing

  • One-off taster events including our Welcome Sessions
  • Litter Picking
  • Let’s activities on the water and on the towpath
  • When you register as a volunteer, we will ask about any unspent convictions to declare and assess risks accordingly.

The skills you need

This role requires no specific skills or training. It’s a great way to learn about other roles that may require or offer training to develop your skills. No formal skills required.
