Join Our Team: Claims Handler
We’re excited to welcome a new Claims Handler to join our Legal Team. This role follows a 37 hours, Monday to Friday working pattern. The vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required.
This role supports the effective and timely handling of Public Liability, Employers’ Liability and Property Damage claims across the Trust. Working under supervision, the Claims Handler will manage the day‑to‑day progression of claims, ensuring all matters are accurately recorded, updated and handled in line with agreed processes and governance requirements.
The role holder will gather information, prepare documentation, maintain clear and complete case files, and liaise with internal colleagues and external partners such as solicitors and loss adjusters.
- Day-to-day conduct of Public Liability, Employers’ Liability, Property Damage and Recovery claims in line with agreed governance and sign-off arrangements under supervision.
- Assist the Legal Business Performance & Claims Manager with claims process, procedure and workflow.
- Progress claims by gathering information, preparing documentation and liaising with relevant internal and external parties.
- Draft all relevant documentation and correspondence relating to progression of claims matters.
- Create and maintain files for each claim, ensuring records are complete, accurate and up to date throughout the lifecycle of the matter.
- Update claims databases and systems with key information, including reserves, status changes, outcomes and closure details, in line with agreed data standards.
- Liaise with internal colleagues across the Trust to obtain information required to progress claims, and with external loss adjusters, solicitors and service providers as appropriate.
- Respond to routine claims-related enquiries in a timely, professional and proportionate manner.
- Work in accordance with established claims processes, systems and reporting requirements, escalating issues, risks or improvement opportunities as directed.
- Follow agreed claims handling processes consistently and highlight delays, data issues or process gaps to support effective claims management.
You’ll bring experience from an administrative, legal, insurance or claims‑related role, along with a basic understanding of the litigation process. You’re confident working with data, maintaining accurate records and staying organised when managing multiple priorities. Above all, you’re keen to learn, supportive of good governance, and motivated to contribute to an efficient and professional claims handling service.
