The (Snr) Solbank Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading and executing the commissioning and testing of Solbanks on a global scale—especially in emerging markets without an established commissioning or service team. The role is designed to empower local teams by ensuring they are fully trained, self-sufficient, and confident in managing their systems. In addition to technical leadership, this position requires developing comprehensive documentation for all processes, health and safety sign-offs, and individual training records. Extensive travel is required, with the ability to work on-site for two to three weeks at a time.
- Create detailed plans and procedures for commissioning and testing, including IR checks, chiller and HVAC commissioning, as well as FACP and gas sensor testing.
- Establish robust documentation practices for recording testing records and sign-off procedures.
- Provide Solbank technical support to all Commissioning and Service team employees and oversee the development of other engineers and technicians.
- Support the commissioning management team in developing process improvements and commissioning tools.
- Facilitate the handover process to the LTSA (Long-Term Service Agreement) team as the subject matter expert on Solbanks.
- Maintain readiness for extensive travel, up to 80% of the time, with on-site assignments lasting from two to three weeks.
- Conduct thorough training sessions to certify new team members.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive service documentation, including sign-off procedures and training records.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate both local team members and contractors, fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- HNC in electrical engineering with appropriate field experience in BESS commissioning.
- Minimum 5 years of BESS commissioning and/or testing experience.
- Must have experience commissioning BESS systems and fault-finding during operations.
- Good technical writing skills and be able to draft working instructions, etc.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally with staff, management, clients, suppliers, community partners and external.
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) and travel to project sites as required.
