Position Summary

The Commissioning Technician is an integral part of the commissioning team. Their main responsibility is to work with and support the commissioning engineer and manager in the successful commissioning of our BESS projects. The successful candidate must be able to travel and complete tasks at various project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a critical role on-site in the execution of BESS projects, from mechanical completion through to entering commercial operation.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the commissioning manager and engineer, ranging from visual inspections to electrical fault finding.
  • Perform daily routine tasks such as executing commissioning test sheets, reviewing and logging issues/resolutions, and helping to monitor the progress of the project’s commissioning activities.
  • Support the commissioning of the overall control system by testing network connectivity of field devices and performing point-to-point tests.
  • Provide on-site diagnostic, troubleshooting and hands-on support.
  • Supervise subcontractors on-site where required.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures from lessons learned on-site.
  • Assist with the completion of testing documentation and preparation of test reports in a timely manner.
  • Support client and their O&M contractor training.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and policies.
  • Attend and occasionally lead Plan of Day (POD) meetings.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 100% of the time.
  • Willingness to support internationally on occasion is advantageous.
  • On occasion, be willing to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum NVQ/SVQ (or equivalent) level 3 in electrical discipline. HNC preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in an installation, commissioning or service environment.
  • Previous experience or training in the renewables sector highly desired.
  • High Voltage and/or SCADA experience beneficial.
  • Experience with HVAC/Liquid Chillers systems desirable.
  • Able to work in a team and/or alone with good practical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging effectively with internal teams and contractors.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office tools required, with experience in Smartsheets and Autodesk Construction Cloud advantageous.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driving license and passport.
