The goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets group based in Canada. It provides a wide range of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and key markets around the world.

Reporting to the Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities Pod Lead, the CM AI Governance Specialist will be part of a dynamic and innovative team at the forefront of data management and AI governance for Capital Markets. You will drive the governance of AI solutions and the quality and strategic use of data within Capital Markets, ensuring our AI solutions and data assets deliver maximum business value. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data and AI governance in Capital Markets while collaborating closely with Front Office business and technology stakeholders and shaping data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • AI Governance: Assess AI solutions against Responsible AI principles (fairness, explainability, accountability, transparency). Support CM AI solution owners in using AI responsibly across the AI/ML lifecycle, including model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring. Develop and coordinate processes to apply the AI Governance Framework across Capital Markets. Maintain and update the Capital Markets AI Solution Inventory to ensure accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance with applicable requirements such as the EU AI Act. Define roles and responsibilities, SLAs, and solution review checkpoints. Establish controls for model explainability, bias/fairness, robustness, and ongoing monitoring. Contribute to the development of internal Responsible AI standards aligned to regulatory expectations (e.g., EU AI Act). Partner with the Enterprise AIGO Oversight Function to support compliance, monitor regulatory developments, and implement key operational controls across Capital Markets.
  • AI Readiness Lead: Assess and improve data readiness for AI use cases, including data quality, lineage, and accessibility. Work with Data Owners, Stewards, and Custodians to ensure datasets meet AI readiness requirements. Define in-scope data assets, identify critical data elements (CDEs), map them to business glossaries, and propose new terms as needed.
  • Business Liaison, Thought Leadership & Strategy: Advise business partners on AI Governance and Data Management best practices. Provide expert guidance to data teams and collaborate with other divisions and external partners.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Capital Markets Knowledge: Strong understanding of Capital Markets with experience in change initiatives. Understanding of business products, operational processes and trade lifecycle.
  • Technology and AI Tools: Interest in industry progress in AI development and understanding of how it can help Capital Markets. Knowledge of ML/AI lifecycle stages and the relevant governance implications. Familiarity with ML frameworks and environments (e.g., Databricks ML, Python ML libraries). Exposure to model monitoring, validation, or governance tooling.
  • Data Analysis & Management: Experience working with large datasets to identify trends and insights. Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel). Understanding of metadata management, data quality and data access management. Knowledge of Databricks and similar data platforms. Experience using SQL, Python, or similar languages for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Professional Skills: Passion for AI, data and technology, with a continuous learning mindset. Strong team player who is adaptable and able to work independently. Ability to become quickly proficient in new processes and domains. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills.
Working Conditions

Hybrid working model with three days per week in the office. Under normal conditions, this role operates in an office environment with limited exposure to adverse working conditions. The open-concept office environment may involve noise and distractions. Fast‑paced, demanding environment.
