The ECM Senior Technical Lead will drive delivery and operations for the Enterprise Content Management platform. This role will be supporting the Director and will be accountable for the overall ECM platform delivery; from requirements to architecture and design through development, deployment, support, and optimization. The ideal candidate is an all-rounder who can wear multiple hats and operate as a Scrum Master, Developer, Business Systems Analyst, Architect, and Delivery & Development Lead, ensuring the ECM platform is reliable, scalable, secure, and delivering business value.
The Technical Lead partners closely with business stakeholders, architects, cloud engineering, and product owners to evolve and modernize ECM capabilities. Success is measured by platform stability, development excellence, and the ability to deliver high-quality automation and content solutions that align with enterprise priorities. The role requires strong technical depth, exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and proven leadership in fast-paced, cloud-based environments.
What you will do
- Technical Leadership & Ownership
- Own the end-to-end technical design, development, deployment, and support of ECM solutions.
- Translate business requirements into solution architectures, technical specifications, and development plans, acting as both architect and lead developer.
- Lead platform upgrades, patching, automation improvements, and environment stabilization efforts.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting for platform issues across application, infrastructure, and integration layers.
- Guide solution decisions and advise product owners, architects, and senior leaders on technical feasibility, risk, and strategic direction.
- Stay current on ECM, OpenShift, AWS, and ECM industry best practices; introduce modernization opportunities including AI/GenAI enhancements.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
- Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the ECM and automation teams.
- Collaborate with product managers, business partners, and enterprise architects to define scope, timelines, and priorities.
- Leadership & Delivery Management
- Manage team intake, backlog, and capacity planning to ensure optimal work distribution, identify resource gaps, and maintain a healthy delivery pipeline.
- Provide leadership with regular updates on team velocity, workload trends, backlog health, and forecasting insights to support planning and decision-making.
- Develop sprint plans, estimate effort, allocate technical tasks, and drive on-time delivery.
- Communicate technical concepts and project status clearly and effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
- Support operational excellence through incident management, root cause analysis, and prevention strategies.
- Build strong relationships across technology teams (cloud, security, data, infra) to ensure stable, compliant, and optimized service delivery.

Reliability Status
Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg.
The base salary for this position is between $102,000 - $152,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
