The Governance and Controls Advisor will play a key role in supporting the documentation and assessment of design and effectiveness of Compliance and Operational Risk controls.

Internal Control Management

  • Support and assist with monitoring of internal controls to provide a single view of controls for our organization.
  • Assist in maintaining the risk and control assessments (“RCAs”) to determine whether our controls are designed and operating effectively to manage risk.
  • Perform and provide results of testing activities done within the Risk and Controls team.
  • Provide insight to occurring trends found during testing completion.
  • Provide reporting results of controls performed within the team.
  • Point of contact for testing done by the Controls team.

Review Coordination and Action Tracking

  • Log, monitor, and report on testing results from reviews performed in the Risk & Controls area to ensure control effectiveness.

Business Continuity Program

  • Responsible for assisting with coordinating the development and maintenance of BCP plans and for monitoring/managing the closing of any gaps.
  • Responsible to assist with ensuring the quality, accuracy and completeness of BCP plans by coordinating plan reviews, tests/exercises and annual compliance signoffs.
  • Responsible for assisting/acting as backup to complete quarterly reporting responsibilities including collecting information on number of critical staff, Work Area Recovery sites, etc.
  • At time of disaster, provide assistance to Divisional Officers, Business Emergency Managers, and BCP plan Leaders in resolving issues/concerns regarding recovery of critical business functions.

What you will bring

  • 3+ years of experience.
  • A drive for continuous improvement and a strong attention to detail.
  • Post secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing audit, quality assurance or quality control related testing is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder skills with all levels of management.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with other areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), experience with risk assessment tools is an asset.
