Credit Research supports the investments to meet liabilities across global balance sheets. This role supports the growth of insurance businesses through research analysis and engaging with fund managers and originators across the business.
We are seeking a Junior Credit Analyst based in our London Office within the Credit Research team to primarily support the growth of fixed income investments and other credit investments within the Asset Management function. This role supports Canada Life’s European business as well as other Great West group companies through the management of their general account portfolios. You will have responsibility to assess existing credit investments annually and potential new credit investments. You will work with other teams across the Great West Group to ensure the business invests in assets appropriately. The role also requires monitoring existing holdings and providing sector level analysis and views as well as assisting with internal and external requests.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate credit investments through fundamental analysis and internal rating models to determine suitability for investment.
- Regularly and actively monitor, review and update fundamental analysis and ratings on all holdings and sectors within assigned area of responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Clearly and concisely communicate investment views and opinions to fund managers in both written and verbal form.
- Collaborate with other credit analysts and fund managers in the London office as well as other global offices.
- Pro‑actively contribute in a collaborative and constructive manner to team and departmental discussions on investment positions, transactions and strategy.
- Complete other required tasks in a timely manner and to a high level of accuracy.
Who You Are
- Demonstrated interest in the investment industry.
- Preferred at least one year of professional experience in the investment or broader financial services industry.
- Strong analytical skills together with ability to gather information and use it to draw sound conclusions and present strong arguments.
- Ability to work effectively on different projects and with different investment teams.
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility to change priorities to meet deadlines.
- Respond well to coaching, mentoring, feedback and oversight.
- Strong presentation skills in both written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite: primarily in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and analyse financial statements and other financial data.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) from a well‑regarded university in a numerate subject.
- Not required, but a desire to pursue the CFA qualification preferred.
