Actively support Wealth Planners by carrying out high quality research on a full range of financial planning products and services including pensions, life insurance, tax planning and investment management to enable the Wealth Planner to provide a full holistic advice service to clients, which delivers good outcomes. A Paraplanner in this role would have significant experience to be able to support Wealth Planners delivering more complex advice.
Prepare client centric suitability reports and other documentation, adhering to the Company’s processes and compliance framework. Paraplanners in this role are proactive in their support to Wealth Planners and take the initiative to maintain their technical knowledge and expertise keeping updated on developments and movements in the financial markets and industry.
As a Senior Paraplanner provide support and guidance to less experienced paraplanners with involvement in process changes and improvements where required and coaching and training of more junior members of the team. At all times those in this role ensures full compliance with the regulatory and organisational procedures, act honestly, fairly and professionally in accordance with the best interests of clients to deliver good outcomes.
Undertake appropriate, accurate and relevant research, based on the information gathered by the Wealth Planner, known information for clients in the ongoing advice service and existing products/services the client has, to enable the Wealth Planner to recommend a suitable solution to meet the client’s needs and objectives with a good outcome. Undertake accurate calculations and cash-flow modelling where needed to support recommendations.
Prepare suitability reports and letters for the Wealth Planners to provide their recommendation based on our knowledge of the client, their documented needs, objectives, risk profile, to support a good client outcome, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances. Ensure that drafted suitability reports and other communications are clear, fair, and not misleading.
Draft and co-ordinate technical documents and research for client presentation. When undertaking research or preparing suitability reports proactively identify areas of potential future advice and raise with the Wealth Planner for them to discuss with the client. Act as a reference point for team concerns/queries, escalating to the Paraplanning Team Leader where appropriate.
Assist with training of new team members, providing extra support and oversight for those new in role. Support, motivate and coach colleagues in a collaborative way. Share knowledge to the benefit of the team and/or wider business.
Technical / Qualifications
- Experience of providing a first-class paraplanning service
- Experience in all Financial Planning practices and disciplines including Investments, Pensions and Protection, with experience of dealing with more complex areas of financial planning advice
- Educated to at least A Level/Higher standard (or equivalent)
- RQF level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (or equivalent)
- Studying towards Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, with the aim of achieving Chartered Financial Planner status (desirable).
Systems/Internal Processes
- MC Office/Outlook - Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of XPlan (Desired)
- Experience of Cashflow Planning software (Desired).
