We are seeking a full-time Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Coach to support delivery of our growing fitness, strength and conditioning activities. If you are passionate about training and motivating individuals, groups and teams to achieve their training and fitness goals, this role could be for you!

You will be part of a team that:

  • Plans, develops and delivers strength and conditioning (S and C) sessions to high-performance athletes on TASS and UCAPP. (TASS is a national scheme that supports athletes and UCAPP is the University’s own in-house high-performance programme for elite athletes that offers support in multiple areas, including S and C in which the role holder will be a key figure).
  • Designs and carries out S and C sessions for University Sports Clubs and external teams working with a variety of sports.
  • Supports individual customers and groups to achieve their fitness goals by conducting inductions, creating programmes, and delivering personal training sessions and workshops.
  • Delivers fitness classes (e.g. circuits) as part of our group exercise class timetable and contributes to our active students and staff programmes.
  • Contributes to the operation of the University Sports Service as a whole, supporting health and safety requirements, customer service, cleaning and maintenance needs, mentoring other staff and opening up/locking up procedures.

You should have relevant fitness qualifications e.g. Level 2/3 gym instructors/personal training. UKSCA accreditation is desirable (or be working towards this with the ability to achieve this within eighteen months), or equivalent strength and conditioning qualifications.

You should have experience of working with a range of individuals and groups; from those training for health reasons through to high-performance athletes, and you should be just as passionate about dealing with general gym users as you are with athletes and teams.

This full-time position will follow a variable shift pattern, including some early mornings, late evenings, and weekends on a rota system.

Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period, as well as a satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children barred list).
