We are looking for a Regional Expedition Coordinator. Camps International provides expedition opportunities for schools through our experiential school travel programmes in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The "Camps Effect" is the impact that our expeditions have on those who travel with us as well as the impact that our community and conservation projects have on people and the planet.
The Role
This is a role for someone who loves winning. You will be out in your region opening doors with new schools, sitting down with teachers, and bringing the Camps experience to life for their students and parents, all while working to an individual and team target. The teacher meeting is where it all starts. These are proper conversations rather than pitches. You get to know the school, understand what they want their students to take from an expedition, and build the trust that turns interest into a confirmed trip.
Your focus is bringing new schools into the Camps family, along with reconnecting with schools who have travelled with us before. Our Business Development team will book meetings into your diary and Marketing will keep the enquiries coming, but the strongest coordinators create their own opportunities too, through their own outreach, local knowledge and referrals from the schools they win.
Once a school is up and running and fundraising is underway, you hand it over to a dedicated Partnerships colleague who looks after them for the long term. That means you stay where you do your best work: out in front of schools, winning. You will be on the road across your region most weeks, with the occasional overnight stay when the diary calls for it.
Key Responsibilities
- Open doors with new schools across your region and get meetings into the diary
- Run engaging teacher meetings that build trust and get schools committed to an expedition
- Launch expeditions to students, present to their parents, and run fundraising workshops that get students started
- Bring the Camps experience to life for students, parents, teachers and senior leadership teams, in assemblies, meetings and presentations
- Work to both individual and team sales targets for new schools and student numbers
- Offer expedition experiences to new schools and reconnect with schools who have travelled with us before
- Create your own opportunities alongside the meetings booked for you by our Business Development team
- Keep the pace up, moving quickly from first teacher meeting to a confirmed expedition launch
- Ask for and follow up referrals from the schools you win
- Hand each new school over to your Partnerships colleague with the full picture, so they never feel dropped between teams
- Travel across your region, with occasional overnight stays
- Represent the Camps ethos and maintain high ethical standards in sales
- Adjust your communication style according to your audience
- Keep your pipeline and records accurate and up to date
- Support other teams as needed to uphold a collaborative team culture
About You
We are looking for a real "people-person", with a passion for travel and a belief in what it can do for young people, who is also target-driven with excellent sales skills. You will need to embrace the Camps ethos and working culture to successfully offer our expedition experiences to new schools. This is a new business role, so not every school will say yes. You will be comfortable with that, you keep your activity high, you move quickly, and you do not let a warm school go cold.
Our ideal candidate ticks the following boxes:
- Commitment to operate with passion, drive and integrity
- Travel industry experience, or a genuine belief in the value of travel for young people
- Proven sales experience - ideally in the travel sector, field sales, or face to face sales
- Results orientated, and comfortable staying positive and persistent when a school is not ready yet
- Self-driven, with the discipline to build and work your own pipeline with limited supervision
- Excellent presentation skills, with the self-confidence and passion to present to our key stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, SLT)
- Superb communication skills - telephone manner, email, written proposals and presentation skills
- Ability to adjust your style according to your audience
- Computer and Microsoft Office proficient
- Full driving licence essential
- Teamwork - we value our team culture and ethos
Overview of role benefits:
- Uncapped bonus
- Company car
- Laptop and mobile phone
- Opportunities for international travel
- A clear development path within our UK Schools team
