As a Credit Control Team Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the credit control function, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding payments, managing debtor relationships, and driving improvements to the credit control process. You will report directly to the Head of Credit Control and play a key role in ensuring the financial health of the company through effective debt management. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills, a solid background in credit control, and a keen understanding of the residential real estate industry. The role offers a hybrid working model with flexible working arrangements, allowing you to balance your professional responsibilities with personal commitments while maintaining a high level of productivity and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Lead and manage a team of 2 credit controllers for the London team, providing direction, motivation, and support to ensure team goals and KPIs are met.
- Credit Control Strategy: Develop and implement effective credit control strategies to optimise cash flow, reduce overdue debt, and minimize the risk of bad debts.
- Collection Process Management: Oversee and ensure effective collections for sales, lettings, new homes and rent arrears, ensuring efficient and professional communication with clients via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Debt Recovery: Review and assess aged debt reports, initiate follow-up actions, escalate to legal action if necessary and escalate complex or unresolved accounts to Head of Credit Control as necessary.
- Team Development: Provide ongoing coaching and training for the credit control team, ensuring they are equipped to perform effectively and develop their skills.
- Client Relations: Foster and maintain strong relationships with key clients, handling queries, disputes, and payment arrangements in a professional manner.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports on the status of outstanding debts, aging reports, and credit control performance to Head of Credit Control.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement within the credit control function, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements relating to credit control and debt recovery.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a credit control role with at least 4 years, preferably within the residential real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of credit control processes and debt recovery techniques.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
- Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to assess complex situations and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and legal action for debt recovery.
- A proactive and results-driven approach to credit control with proven achievements in credit control process improvements.
- Ability to present to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
