Payroll Administrator
Fixed Term Contract 12 months – Part time 30 hours, £27,000 FTE (£21,600 pa).
Overview
We are recruiting for a Payroll Administrator on a 12‑month fixed term contract within our HR department. The Payroll Administrator supports the Payroll Manager to deliver both monthly and fortnightly pay cycles and provide an accurate and efficient service to our employees and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support colleagues and line managers to process an accurate and efficient service to employees and the wider business, including responding to payroll related queries.
- Process end‑to‑end payroll for colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely payments and compliance with contractual and statutory obligations.
- Maintain and update employee records, including changes to pay, tax codes and deductions.
- Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SPP, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and internal policies.
- Process payments, deductions and instructions from third parties, including DWP, HMRC and Court Orders.
- Assist in reconciling payroll reports, manual calculations, resolving exception reporting and discrepancies, and Year End.
- Work with the People Team to ensure accurate and timely on‑boarding and off‑boarding of starters, movers and leavers in the Club.
- Support with Auto‑enrolment processing.
- Understand the rostering system as a source of payroll data feed.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with troubleshooting and resolving queries around payment, tax, pension etc.
- Support with ad‑hoc payroll processes including TUPE, closures and transfers.
- Assist with the completion of statutory returns.
- Provide support and administrative assistance to the People Team.
- Ensure data security, HMRC, GDPR and pension compliance is followed.
- Focus on continuous improvement, identifying and raising areas for process improvement and automation where possible.
Qualifications
- Level2/GCSE Maths or equivalent.
- Experience delivering high‑volume, hands‑on, end‑to‑end payroll in a medium‑large organisation.
- Experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar role.
- Experience in payroll systems e.g. iTrent.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and relevant regulations, legislation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Evidence of right to work in the UK.
