Locations & Travel

Botton Village, Danby, North Yorkshire, in the North Yorkshire Moors. You must be able to reliably travel to our site. Please note that our Botton Village Community is rural and not accessible via public transport, so a driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be extremely beneficial.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Programme Delivery: Develop, plan, deliver, assess and support participants to engage in activities within one or more of the Social Farms and Gardens programmes (Animal Care and Husbandry, Growing and Horticulture, Countryside Management). Work with other Programme Leads to curate nature‑based programmes of activity as vehicles for delivering outcomes and impact. Develop comprehensive 13‑week programmes of activity designed to support each participant towards their personal goals. Use templates and established processes to document programme plans and keep records of sessions to inform continual service improvement.
  • Person‑Centred Support: Work with participants to identify individual goals and determine progression objectives. Assess, induct and review support needs, ensuring effective support plans and risk assessments are in place in partnership with relevant parties such as social workers, family members and key workers. Review participants’ progress and develop plans for each season to build on that progress toward individual objectives. Document reflections on the effectiveness of activities in supporting participants to progress toward their goals. Create a safe, enabling environment. Keep records and collect data to evidence progress, outcomes and impact.
  • Health And Safety: Take responsibility for safe practice, risk assessment of the environment and people, develop and implement safe operating processes and procedures; maintain records to evidence effectiveness. Identify, report and follow up any building or equipment issues with our PALS teams or external contractors, working through to resolution. Find solutions to operational challenges and, where necessary, escalate risks or issues beyond your control to mitigate or resolve; make action recommendations in internal or external audits to improve safety and reduce risk. Ensure all regulatory requirements are met and any additional measures described in Trust policies and procedures relevant to your role are implemented.
  • People: Support managers to recruit, induct, integrate and train new staff and volunteers. Manage and work alongside support workers, supporting participants to engage in activities and progress towards goals; conduct regular supervision and develop staff to reach potential. Assist the manager with staffing schedules and rotas to ensure efficient resource allocation and a safe environment. Aide communication through information cascades, team meetings, etc. Conduct regular observations to provide support workers with feedback on the effectiveness of the support provided to participants.
  • Data And Reporting: Collect evidence of progression and other data to meet KPIs and reporting requirements that demonstrate effectiveness, efficiency and achievement of target outcomes.
  • Service Development And Promotion: Work with NBTS managers to build a strong and positive presence in the community by attending and supporting both internal and external events. Build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders, including family members and professionals, while clearly communicating the Camphill Village Trust ethos. Support visits and trials for potential new participants and lead their induction process once they join.
  • General: Comply with the Trust’s Policies and Procedures, including Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity and Data Protection. Comply with statutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Look after own health, safety and welfare and be mindful of other persons who may be affected by actions or omissions; cooperate and comply with management instructions regarding Health and Safety issues and report all accidents, incidents and problems promptly to manager or senior staff. Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times. Attend and participate in team meetings, 1‑2‑1 supervision sessions and other required meetings. Undertake any other duties consistent with this post as directed by line management.

Key Competencies: Able to lead programmes in food environments with safe practices as outlined in Safer Food Better Business. Able to assess risk for work involving hot or cold liquids, foodstuff, equipment, tools and machinery requiring safe operating procedures. Able to lead a programme and people in customer‑facing environments.
