Purpose

Do you want to make a meaningful impact every day? Would you like to help people live more independently? As a support worker you will help adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health support needs live full and independent lives. You will help them with:

  • Everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning and laundry
  • Going to health appointments and staying well
  • Managing money, benefits and budgeting
  • Making friends and joining activities
  • Taking part in learning, volunteering or work activities
  • Taking part in nature activities including gardening, cooking, crafts and animal care.

These activities are a special part of Camphill Village Trust. The support you give will depend on each person's choices, needs, interests and goals. As a support worker you will work closely with your team leader. You will be part of a caring community where your ideas and your relationships with the people we support really matter.

Locations & Travel

Botton Village (Danby, North Yorkshire) The role will be based at Botton Village, Danby in the North Yorkshire Moors. To be considered for this role you must be able to reliably travel to our site.

What you’ll be doing

Every day will be different. Your main tasks include:

  • Helping people keep their homes safe, clean and welcoming.
  • Supporting them to keep their tenancy by speaking with landlords or housing staff.
  • Encouraging them to be independent and make their own choices at every stage.
  • Making sure every person feels respected, included and in charge of their care.

What we are looking for

You do not need to have done this exact role before. We will give you training. We are looking for people who:

  • Have experience in care or support work (this is helpful but not required).
  • Truly want to help others live meaningful lives.
  • Can use basic technology (like a phone or computer).
  • Are open-minded and willing to learn.
  • Believe in equality, diversity and human rights.
  • Are open to learning about our values and approach (we will provide training).

Qualifications

It’s great if you have NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Care – if not we will help you get it. You will need good reading, writing and number skills.
