Camphill Community Glencraig is currently recruiting for the following vacancy: Day Support Worker in Day Opportunities Workshop Arts and Crafts.
Due to the development of Day Services, we are currently recruiting for Support Workers who will work as part of a community whose purpose is to meet the physical, psychological, emotional and social needs of individuals with a learning disability within the Day Opportunity settings in Camphill Community Glencraig. This position will involve working in the Crafts and Arts Studio.
Support Workers will assist the team in providing the highest possible standard of support and care to adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour, to pursue a valued lifestyle by participating in meaningful daily activities, supporting the well-being and development of skills as well as enhancing and promoting independence, choices and rights within a safe and caring environment.
We are looking for empathetic and caring staff who share our values and a desire to help improve and add to the quality of life and well-being of residents and day attendees.
Please Note: this role does not currently meet the criteria set by the UK Home Office for the Tier 2 Health and Social Care Visa.
Salary: 3-Point scale, commencing on £12.60 per hour increasing with length of service.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. Additional hours may be available in our onsite adults residential homes, through our internal bank staff facility.
Contract: Permanent

Essential Criteria:
- Minimum QCF level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care or related discipline (In the case of applicants who do not have a QCF level 2 or equivalent but have 1 year relevant care experience this part of the essential criteria will be waived).
- GCSE English and Mathematics to Grade C or above or equivalent.
- Registered or agreeable to applying for registration with the N. Ireland Social Care Council.
- At least six months experience in a caring and/or educational support field OR 1 year relevant experience as stipulated above.
Desirable Criteria:
- Qualification in Health & Social Care, Social Sciences or equivalent (higher than Level 2).
- Experience in education or health and social care setting.
- Experience of working with individuals with a disability.
- Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour.
- Ability, experience, knowledge in Arts and Crafts.
