Camphill Community Glencraig is currently recruiting for the following vacancy: Assistant Teacher (26/17/AT/WEB).
Purpose of the Job: The Assistant Teacher is a senior classroom support role, combining leadership of Classroom Assistants with ongoing, hands-on support for students as a core responsibility. The post holder supports teaching and learning, contributes to planning, provides cover for teachers when required and leads on behaviour support and team coordination. The role includes day-to-day supervision and performance support of Classroom Assistants, ensuring high quality provision for students with additional needs, including autism.

Salary: £29,083 - £31,467 per annum. N.B. Salaries are paid equally over 12 months.
Hours: 36.5 hours per week. Additional hours after school, on weekends or during off duty periods, may be available in our on-site children's and adults' homes if NISCC registered, through our internal bank staff facility. Glencraig meets this professional fee.
Contract: Permanent
Annual Leave: 30 days plus 12 statutory days. Assistant Teachers benefit from an additional 10 days off duty days, giving a total of 52 non-working days per annum.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrates Glencraig's values.
- Level 4 qualification or A Level 3 with 5 years relevant experience in a Camphill School or similar SEN setting and with the expectation that the QCF Level 4 or equivalent qualification will be gained within first 12 months of service.
- At least one year's experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism in an SEN setting.
- Skills in at least one specialist area (communication, arts, behaviour, sensory, outdoor learning).
Desirable Criteria:
- GCSE English and Mathematics to Grade C or above or equivalent.
- Have experience of or demonstrate the ability to manage a team including the monitoring, evaluation and prioritisation of others' work.
- Training in Risk Assessment e.g. IOSH.
