Campden BRI offer microbiology analytical testing and consultancy services, including: analytical testing, safety and spoilage, molecular and microbiology methods, emerging microbiology, brewing microbiology research, industrial heat process microbiology and quality laboratory audit.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carry out practical laboratory work on contract studies using a variety of microbiological and molecular techniques (circa 80% of the role).
- Support Campden-funded and member-funded research projects, including data interpretation and report writing.
- Perform scheduled calibration checks, laboratory monitoring, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in line with UKAS and company quality standards.
- Liaise with internal teams and external clients, including delivering practical demonstrations to auditors and visiting clients.
- Contribute to stock management, ordering consumables and reagents cost-effectively.
What we’re looking for:
- A relevant science degree or equivalent qualification and/or practical laboratory experience.
- Experience working within a recognised quality system (e.g. UKAS, ISO 9000).
- Competency working with spoilage organisms and foodborne pathogens, including knowledge of appropriate media, incubation conditions, and temperatures.
- Strong data calculation and interpretation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine laboratory issues and escalate appropriately.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
