Bakery NPD Manager
Join Campden BRI’s renowned Product & Ingredient Development Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of bakery and cereal innovation. As our Bakery NPD Manager you’ll serve as a strategic leader and subject matter expert—driving research, guiding development, and representing our institution across the wider food industry.
This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished professional with deep technical knowledge and industry insight to influence the commercial bakery sector at scale.

Position
- Spearhead a portfolio of high-impact NPD & R&D initiatives and technical training programs within baking and cereal processing
- Partner directly with key stakeholders—industry, government, and academia—to craft, manage, and deliver bespoke consultancy projects
- Act as the authoritative voice of Campden BRI in the bakery sector, influencing product innovation, safety, and quality standards
- Provide strategic guidance across cross-functional teams while mentoring emerging talent and fostering technical excellence
- Lead conceptualisation, execution, and reporting of client-based research and development projects
- Design and deliver advanced-level bakery training courses tailored to industry needs
- Drive project acquisition through relationship-building and proposal development
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure timely and effective project delivery
- Maintain and enhance specialist facilities and equipment, ensuring operational excellence
Requirements
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Food Science, Bakery Science, with extensive industry experience
- Demonstrated expertise across bakery processes and formulations, with hands-on experience in at least two key product categories (bread, cake, pastry, biscuit)
- Strong business acumen, with proven project leadership and stakeholder engagement
- Exceptional communication, mentoring, and analytical skills
