Position

  • To undertake analysis in our Chemistry laboratories of food & drink samples in focusing mainly on chromatography, together with all associated activities. In general, this could involve analysis by GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, HPLC and ICP.
  • Booking in of samples, preparation of samples and reporting of results to clients.
  • Routine analysis of food stuffs and associated materials using instrumental methods e.g. HPLC and LC/MS/MS.
  • Produce accurate laboratory record, calculate results, collate data for inclusion in scientific reports and produce reports for bespoke and routine analysis.
  • To ensure all aspects of quality are managed according to the Campden BRI standards, including maintaining QC records for UKAS accredited methods.
  • Responding to client enquires relating to testing within the section.
  • Training and supervision of junior staff as require.
  • Basic maintenance and calibration of equipment, including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS and HPLC systems.

Requirements

  • You will be a dedicated Chemistry graduate, predicted classification minimum 2:1 (or equivalent).
  • Experience of using your initiative and the ability to take responsibility (evidenced by volunteering, extracurricular activities, work).
  • Interest in food & drink analytical chemistry.
  • Competent in the use of Excel and Word.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment would be beneficial.
  • Experience working with chromatography techniques desirable, particularly LC/MS/MS and HPLC.
  • Ability to undertake routine analysis with minimal supervision.
  • Good organisational skill for managing workload and complex projects.
  • Well-developed communication skills.

Additional Information
Please note due to our rural location you must be able to drive and have your own transport.
The site is within driving distance of several towns, including Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Evesham.
Working hours- Monday-Friday 8.45am-5.15pm (4.30pm finish on Fridays).
