Job Description
Food Science & Technology Graduate
Campden BRI are at the forefront of innovation, science and technology that supports our members- the food & drink industries. You will be working with our Product and Ingredient Team- NPD, EPD, consultancy, trials and advice.
The aim of the Product and Ingredient Development Team is to provide world class research and development support to the food and beverage industry. A key focus is helping clients to bring innovative products to market in an efficient yet safe manner. The team also provides technical training and support to the industry.
This role supports this through the delivery of research and development projects and training activities, particularly within the bakery category. The role will involve practical product developments and ingredient testing, using laboratory and pilot plant equipment as well as desk-based activities.
Position
- Executing technical food and beverage related projects / research, much of which will be practical work using lab and pilot plant facilities
- Office-based activities- collecting project data and preparing client reports, liaising with clients and creating proposals
- Providing support to practical delivery on training courses and presentation on external/internal training courses
- Assisting in health & safety, hygiene, good manufacturing activities
- Contribute to idea generation for the group
- Developing knowledge of a pilot plant equipment to include maintenance and records
Requirements
- Food Science & Technology graduate or equivalent, with relevant experience within food or beverage manufacture or development. A degree in food science or technology is preferable, but other relevant subjects would be considered. Relevant industrial experience may be considered in lieu of higher qualifications.
- Proven competence of working in the food industry, preferably within product development.
- Knowledge of raw materials and / or production methods, processes and food product analysis.
- Experience in using pilot plant equipment however, a bias towards using such equipment would be sufficient.
- Good communication and organisational skills for holding discussions with staff and clients.
- Ability to manage work on a number of projects simultaneously to agreed deadlines.
- Ability to write reports and proposals of varying length and complexity.
- An analytical mind with good attention to detail and the ability to find solutions to complex problems.
- Puts the client/customer and their needs at the heart of everything that we do.
