The Regulatory Insights and Categories Team Manager leads, develops and grows a high-performing regulatory consultancy team within the food and drink sector. The role provides strategic, technical and commercial leadership across core and specialist regulatory areas, including emerging fields such as novel foods, sustainability, nutrient profiling, food supplements and alcoholic beverages.
The post holder will play a central role in expanding regulatory services, strengthening client relationships and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, high-value consultancy. This includes driving sustainable revenue growth, identifying new business opportunities and positioning the organisation as a trusted partner in navigating complex and evolving global food legislation.
The role combines people leadership, client engagement and hands-on regulatory expertise, alongside a strong focus on continuous improvement of processes, systems and ways of working.
- Leading and developing a team of regulatory advisors, building capability and performance
- Driving regulatory strategy and expanding services into new and emerging areas
- Managing key client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
- Delivering high-quality regulatory consultancy and expert guidance on food legislation
- Overseeing multiple projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget
- Supporting marketing activities and promoting regulatory services
- Improving processes, systems and service delivery through continuous improvement
- Managing team performance, KPIs and contributing to revenue growth
What we’re looking for:
- Degree qualified in a science, law or related discipline
- Strong experience in food legislation (EU and/or international) with at least 3–5 years’ practical application
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and motivate
- Experience in business development and delivering revenue growth
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Customer-focused with a commitment to high-quality service delivery
- Highly organised, adaptable and solution-oriented
- Ability to work autonomously with accountability for team and business performance
- A proactive, flexible and collaborative “can-do” approach
