We are seeking to recruit a Junior Legal Secretary to join our Litigation Department. This role will primarily support attorneys in the BVI Litigation Department, while also assisting corporate secretaries and providing general office administrative support as needed. The role requires adaptability, professionalism, and a proactive approach. As a junior position, the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively is essential. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented and resourceful team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering high-quality work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acting as first point of contact for office visitors, including visiting counsel, couriers and service providers;
- Handling incoming calls professionally, and taking accurate messages;
- Assisting with preparation of court bundles, printing, collating and assembly (under supervision);
- Preparation of conference room for meetings and ensuring faculties are set up as directed;
- Recording and posting disbursements related to court e-filings;
- Scanning, copying and distribution of legal documents as required;
- Arranging and receiving courier packages;
- Ensuring stock and wider office supplies are at adequate levels while keeping stock organised;
- Coordinating with secretaries to ensure standard of service to internal clients is met;
- Support special projects and general office administrative tasks.
Requirements:
- Ability to handle confidential information;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Ability to receive and execute on instruction;
- Organisational and time management skills;
- Professional communication skills (written and verbal);
- Accurate typing and document formatting skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Familiarity with document management systems Foxit or PDF software;
- High School Diploma or Certificate in Secretarial Studies;
- Previous experience in a law firm or legal environment is beneficial but not required;
- Willingness to learn and develop in a legal environment;
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude;
- Team Player with strong interpersonal skills.
Salary and Benefits:
Campbells offers an attractive salary commensurate with experience, plus eligibility for overtime, 20 days leave per annum, and additional health and pension benefits.
