The recently created Housing and Communities Directorate, will lead on the citys social housing and housing strategy. Bringing social housing back into the council gives us an opportunity to integrate housing into our ambitions and our priorities and ensure our residents are at the heart of everything we do.

You will be passionate about housing, possess excellent stakeholder management and strategic partnering capabilities, genuinely care about residents, and demonstrate the ability to strengthen relationships internally and across the region whilst leading a dedicated team.
Job role
Head of Service Housing Governance and Assurance
The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring all services within the Directorate as governed appropriately and delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, statute and best practice. A key part of the role will be to provide strategic leadership and scrutiny to all contracted services, with large scale budget accountability, relating to the housing portfolio including the effective commissioning, delivery, and performance of services and to ensure financial control alignment with budgets across the Directorate and compliance with our various regulatory regimes.
Selection Process
The closing date for these positions is Wednesday 4th June 2025. It is anticipated that successfully longlisted applicants will be invited to attend a technical interview week commencing 16th June 2025. Applicants who are successful at this stage, will be invited to a panel interview in early July 2025.
