This is a great move into industry: solid, interesting management accounting work and a great manager. You'll be joining a small, close-knit finance team where people genuinely look out for each other, and you'll have real ownership over the monthly accounts process rather than just being a small cog.
What you'll be doing:
- Putting together monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Answering ad-hoc questions from advisers, explaining the numbers in plain English
- Looking after departmental paperwork, including dividend documents and company secretarial bits
- Stepping in to cover other tasks when colleagues are off on holiday or studying
- Supporting and managing junior team members, checking their work and helping them grow
What you'll bring:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience
- A background working for an established accountancy practice.
- A calm head under deadline pressure and the ability to juggle a few things at once
- The confidence to explain financial info to people who aren't finance people
- Some experience mentoring or reviewing junior staff, or an interest in getting into that
- A comfortable user of Excel and accounting systems
