The opportunity:
Campbell Grove Talent are recruiting a Financial Controller to join a newly PE-backed, sustainable business that is genuinely going places, bringing their finance team in house for the first time. That means a blank canvas. No bad habits inherited from a predecessor. Just you, a brilliant CFO, and the chance to shape the finance function exactly as it should be. The CFO here is the selling point - someone who'll invest in you, stretch you, and give you proper SLT visibility from day one. If you want a boss who'll mentor you and not just dump work on your desk, this is it. For the right person, this Financial Controller role could be done on a 4-day working week, so if you want a challenging position but still that important day off to spend with your children/give you a better work-life balance, then this would be ideal for you.
What you'll be doing as the Financial Controller:
Initially, you'll need to roll your sleeves up. This isn't a seat-and-delegate job straight away; you'll be hands-on across month-end, management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, budgets and forecasts. As the team grows (and you'll be involved in building it), your role evolves with it. You're not just filling a seat; you're laying the foundations. Working closely with the CFO, you'll help to implement new reporting frameworks and processes that make sense for where this business is heading.
Who we're looking for:
- Qualified or qualified by experience accountant
- Strong background in hands-on management/financial accounting
- Curious and commercially minded
- Gravitas to hold your own in a room with senior leads
