The appointment is for a full-time, permanent member of staff to teach Home Economics at Key Stage 3 and Health & Social Care to GCSE and A Level Standard. This is an opportunity for an energetic and imaginative teacher to be part of a dynamic and popular department.
With changes to the curricular offer, we have now rebranded the Home Economics Department to the Nutrition and Health Science Department. The Department is currently staffed by two full-time and one part-time member of staff and a full-time technician.
In each Key Stage 3 Year group, there are 6 Home Economics classes; however, these are subdivided into 9 smaller groups. Each group has 2 periods per fortnight (each period is 55 minutes) with approximately 16 boys in a class. At Key Stage 4 and 5 we have two classes of Health & Social Care in each year (Years 11-14) and use the CCEA examination board.
