Classroom Assistants assist with the educational progress and the pastoral care of the pupil with special educational needs who is/are in the teacher’s care inside or outside the classroom. They contribute to the inclusion of the pupil in mainstream school.

Classroom Assistants are responsible, in the first instance, to the teachers, Head of Learning Support and, ultimately, to the Headmaster and Board of Governors. These permanent posts, commencing in August 2026, are for a number of positions for students from Year 8 to Year 13, with contracts varying from part time or job share to full time (9.00am-3.30pm) hours. The duration of appointment is subject to review and is dependent upon the continuation of funding from DENI for each student.

Pay is as per the NJC scale; points 11-14; £28,142 to £29,540 per annum, pro rata. Application is by submitting a Curriculum Vitae, a covering letter and a Monitoring Questionnaire.
