Fast growing, privately owned Legal Practice are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Financial Accountant to oversee the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash and treasury management, compliance with tax regulations, and smooth month-end and year-end processes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of supporting strategic business decisions. The company offers mainly remote working with the expectation of someone coming in 2-4 days a month.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards
- Produce statutory accounts and liaise with auditors
- Monitor and manage cash flow, bank accounts, and liquidity
- Oversee treasury operations
- Assist with funding requirements, bank relationships, and cash forecasting
- Ensure corporation tax, VAT, and payroll-related taxes are accurately calculated and submitted
- Support tax planning and compliance with HMRC requirements
- Maintain compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal controls
- Provide financial insight to support management decision-making
- Highlight risks and opportunities to the CFO / leadership team
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent) or part qualified/qualified by experience
- Worked within the Legal or Professional Services sectors
- Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting, and month-end processes
- Experience with treasury / cash management and working with banks
- Knowledge of UK tax regulations including corporation tax, VAT, and PAYE
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
