Finance Executive (The Fabadousa Group, Maldon, Essex)
About Fabadosa Group
Fabadosa Group is a growing group of businesses operating across different sectors. Bringing together a range of brands and teams, we focus on delivering quality, supporting our people and continuing to develop our businesses. Strong financial processes and informed commercial decisions play an important role in supporting this growth and ensuring our businesses continue to move forward.
About the Role
We are looking for an organised, proactive and motivated Finance Executive to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage in their finance career to gain broad exposure to management accounting, financial controls and commercial reporting across the businesses we support.
Working closely with the finance team and operational colleagues, you will support the delivery of accurate financial information, assist with reporting and reconciliations, and contribute to improving finance processes. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is keen to learn, take ownership of their work and develop their technical knowledge, with the opportunity to progress towards a recognised accounting qualification.
-
Support the month‑end close by preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules under guidance.
-
Complete bank, income and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating differences and escalating issues promptly.
-
Maintain accurate fixed asset, intercompany, payroll and VAT records.
-
Assist with sales ledger, credit control, purchase ledger and working‑capital reporting.
-
Work with operational colleagues to gather information, explain variances and follow up agreed actions.
-
Manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis
-
Help prepare monthly management accounts and reports covering profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and key performance indicators.
-
Analyse actual results against budgets, forecasts and prior‑year figures, with support to identify and explain key variances.
-
Assist with budgeting, reforecasting and cash‑flow updates by gathering information and maintaining financial models.
-
Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support pricing, growth initiatives and operational decisions.
-
Prepare schedules and supporting evidence for year‑end accounts, audits and external advisers.
Financial Control, Systems and Development
-
Follow financial controls and maintain clear, accurate records and audit trails.
-
Help improve finance processes, reporting tools and data quality as the business grows.
-
Build productive working relationships with finance and non‑finance colleagues across the businesses.
-
Take ownership of agreed tasks, seek feedback and actively develop management accounting knowledge.
-
Work towards a recognised qualification, such as AAT, CIMA or ACCA, with study support where applicable.
About You
We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, takes pride in their work and is interested in developing a career in finance and management accounting.
You will ideally have:
-
Some experience in a finance or accounts role, or a relevant degree or qualification alongside a strong interest in management accounting.
-
An interest in studying towards, or beginning, a recognised accounting qualification such as AAT, CIMA or ACCA.
-
A basic understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping, reconciliations and month‑end accounting.
-
Confidence using spreadsheets, with experience of accounting systems being useful but not essential.
-
Strong numerical and analytical skills, with good attention to detail and a willingness to investigate discrepancies.
-
Clear communication skills and the confidence to ask questions and work with colleagues across the business.
-
A proactive, dependable and organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a changing environment.
What Success Looks Like
-
Accurate reconciliations, schedules and reports are completed on time.
-
Queries are investigated thoroughly and escalated appropriately.
-
Finance processes and controls are followed consistently.
-
Technical knowledge, confidence and ownership develop steadily over time.
-
Finance colleagues and operational teams receive responsive, reliable support.
