Job Description
To ensure that our Pipe Fitters operate efficiently, in line with project needs and most importantly safely, we are looking for a Pipe Fitter Supervisor to oversee and manage the team day to day.
Reporting to the Head of your Department, you will work closely with other trade supervisors, working in collaboration when planning day to day activities.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has worked a similar role before, or if you are a Pipe Fitter and can demonstrate to us through examples that you can lead and manage as the role needs to, this might be for you!

Part of APCL Group Cammell Laird is known across the globe. Our strategically located facility on the River Mersey operates across 5 core markets: defence refit and repair, commercial refit and repair, defence newbuild projects, commercial newbuild projects and energy.
Across 90 acres we operate four dry docks, a large modular construction hall and extensive covered workshops. We've played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years.
So, what will you do?
Working closely with Production Management, you'll be managing Health & Safety, Quality & Cost consistently communicating progress
- You'll receive, understand & implement work schedules and instruction then organise workloads making sure that you allocate your team efficiently and effectively to deliver maximum output considering project needs and your Pipe Fitter's skillsets
- You'll monitor the daily work of your Pipe Fitters, ensuring tasks are completed correctly and on time to deliver targets and will report on progress
- Leading, motivating and driving productivity and efficiency. You'll check the quality of work and ensure it meets required standards and you'll also provide guidance or training to new or less experienced Pipe Fitters to keep them on track
- Most importantly you will make sure all of the team, not just yours, follow health and safety regulations on-site and you'll both understand and promote company policy and process
- You'll collaborate across other trade supervision, when planning day to day activities to ensure the best possible overall output
What are we looking for?
- A natural leader with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Someone who has a background as a Pipe Fitter and is keen to undertake further development for their role & assist in the development of others
- An analytical mind with skills to explain, consider and overcome problems
- Ideally someone who has worked a similar role before, or if you are a Pipe Fitter and can demonstrate to us through examples that you can lead and manage as the role needs to working indoors and outdoors in all elements, it might be for you!
